I've got the first three pages almost done, by the way! (the first page is completely done) You should show me then! I can't wait to see.

That said, what was it like being my supervisor? It was a bit like taming a wild colt.

That said, what was it like being my supervisor? It was a bit like taming a wild colt. Was it successful taming, do you think? Or am I roaming free on the wild prairie?

Was it successful taming, do you think? Or am I roaming free on the wild prairie? I think you were broken in just enough to give you a bit of discipline without undermining your energy.

to all of our fans that are reading their first comic when they read MSCSI, what would you recommend people read next? Probably Sandman trade paperbacks, to be honest. If people like 1990s stories about interesting and intelligent women, with some superhero stuff but not in a conventional way, and a collage aesthetic, they would probably enjoy books like 'The Doll's House' and 'A Game of You'. It is an obvious recommendation, but I'd have to talk to individuals in more detail to find out what they liked about MSCSI before pointing them towards anything more specific. If they liked Urbanite, for instance, I'd say they might want to read Miller's 1980s Batman graphic novels. If they liked the colouring and the NYC atmosphere, I might direct them to Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's miniseries such as Daredevil Yellow. If they liked the alternative music club scene in Issue 1, they might want to go to Scott Pilgrim. If they like kooky misfit superheroes, they could look at Doom Patrol, Shade, Animal Man, Hellblazer, Kid Eternity, Black Orchid and other 1990s Vertigo books and trade paperbacks.

and what has been the single biggest influence on the creation of MSCSI?

Are you currently working on a project, and if so how does MSCSI fit in with juggling your work/responsibilities?

and what has been the single biggest influence on the creation of MSCSI? I don't know if it is possible to identify single biggest influences -- there are a lot of strong shaping presences. Vertigo comics of the 1990s are probably the most obvious major influence, but that is an entire imprint and aesthetic, by a number of different creators, over a period of time. My own research into the dynamic between Batman, Joker, Robin and Batgirl has certainly informed the plot of MSCSI. It's also, generally, meant to feel a bit like a Claire Danes or Molly Ringwald movie or TV show from the early 1990s, with that kind of alternative music soundtrack, and it's meant to capture, for me, something about my life and experience of being twentysomething at that time.

Are you currently working on a project, and if so how does MSCSI fit in with juggling your work/responsibilities? I am working on about half a dozen projects -- the only way to answer this is to say that yes, it is a question of juggling. I don't really know how I do it except that I am working nearly all the time I'm not sleeping.

what is the nerdiest thing you own? Define 'nerdy'?

I was hoping your definition would give us as much insight as your answer - mine, for example, might be the textbook I have on making coffee that is highlighted and dog-eared on all the important bits, or it might be the necklace I made my boyfriend buy me for Christmas, because it would be a reference to Evil Dead 2.
