As another painted lady- I think you need something with cleaner lines. I think the cluster inside would depend on where you want it and if it will "read" or distract from the uroboros Attachments:

(The ouroboros always reminds me of The X-Files!)
I like the ouroboros image you've linked to and I think it could be done as it is by a good artist, though you may expect some blurring on some of the lines. Personally, I'd say that the cluster inside would detract from the ouroboros if you use those colours - if I was doing it I'd want the ouroboros to stand out more than the cluster disgram, and so if you're using the same colours as the ouroboros you've linked to I'd say have more muted colours in the inside too. It depends on the effect you're going for though.

I have wanted one since Scully got hers, Beth, but after reading/watching Joseph Campbell's work, I want one even more - I just want to make sure I get it right. I would have it all black ink, no colour.
My plan, basically, is to have something that symbolises continuation and interconnectivity, and is a mixture of old symbol and new diagram. Going to have a play around drawing one out myself, when I've got something to show I'll post it up here.
There's a beautiful Buddhist urobors I found that I wish I had space for on my back.. alas, it be covered in birds...

I want to see photos of your other tattoos!
Yeah you have to make sure you get it right. I like what you want yours to symbolise, with the mixture of old and new too. Do you work with your artist to get stuff drawn up? I usually email mine photos or sketches of what I like, along with what I want the tattoo to mean, and he draws up something that's perfect.

I usually have a pretty solid idea of what I want before I get the artist involved, so I've never had a back-and-forth like you've described. I have designed all my own myself, and I like that about them. I'll see if I can fish out some old facebook photos, but I don't really like getting photos taken, so there won't be many. I want to see yours if you're seeing mine, by the way

Yeah that makes sense. I'm really rubbish at drawing so I'm better describing to Shaun what I want and why, and he takes what was in my head and gets it down perfectly. I love your back! You can see mine any day ;P This is from a VNV Nation song that I love. Left half sleeve. Right half sleeve. I've actually had a lot more work done since this was taken - it's been fully coloured, but I don't seem to have any photos. A really blurry photo of my wrists. Right hand. Left leg - nowhere near finished! Chest, with microdermals. I had to take them out But I really want to get them done again. I have a couple more but they're going to get covered up when I eventually get my back piece so I'm not bothering posting them.
