I wish I had been able to be around when there were A and B movies with a cartoon at the beginning, and to console myself that I'm not, I will regularly line up a special evening viewing with just that format.
What I've found is, there's an art to ensuring that the B and A movie complement each other, so with that in mind, I want you to tell me what you'd play if we could rent out an old cinema for the night.
My first pairing would be Inception as the B Movie and Paprika as the A movie - Paprika inspired a lot of the plot of Inception (without the feeling of outright theft you get with Matrix versus Ghost In The Shell), and whilst Inception creates rules for you to follow, and then enjoys toying with them, there's nothing quite like how Paprika (being animated and therefore without any constrictions on how it depicts what's real) pulls the rug out from underneath you and really monkeys with your brainbox...
After that, I might pair up The Blues Brothers (B) with O Brother, Where Art Thou? (A), so you get a sense of how both films adore their chosen music genre and soak each frame of the film with it.
Get the game? Your turn!

ooh, yes! To all 3. Hot Fuzz and Point Break would be a great double bill, too

Katshimmy, I love Adventures in Babysitting! i used to keep renting it from the videoshop in the 1980s. I've never seen The Thing Called Love though, is it good?
For my double feature, I'd do
Crimes and Misdemeanors/Matchpoint Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure/Back to the Future Talk to Her/Black Swan
