I had a meeting with my PhD supervisor today and it went really well! It's always a relief when it does because I panic about how good my work is like no one's business. I swear I'm ridiculous. But it's been a good day and it's definitely consolidated my love of the topic, and of research. It's tough when I'm working full time to remember that, especially lately as work has been a nightmare, but I won't be doing it forever.

I wish Will could be your supervisor, Beth! He always managed to keep me motivated, even when the work was a complete nightmare. Although, I do think that's part and parcel of the Ph.D. experience--there are days when you want to throw the entire thing out the window, but then you tell yourself if this were easy, everyone would have a doctorate and you keep plugging away...and the next thing you know, three years have gone by and you're submitting XD Good luck with your work! Haha, Will as my supervisor would be great! Though the supervisor I do have is brilliant - I've got no complaints there. He's incredibly knowledgeable about what I'm doing and is really supportive; the biggest problem at the moment is the day job. But I won't be doing that forever and the worst days at work remind me why I'm doing the PhD! I'll take all the rooting I can get though <3

I would trade places with you in a second, if I could. On your worst day, for my best day at work, I would do a swap.

I remember having meetings with my MA supervisor--it was always a relief to know I was on the right track instead of going down the completely wrong primrose path, Beth, so I hear you!
