Hello I'm Leanne but please call me Lea or Tinks, being called Leanne makes me feel like I'm in trouble I like reading (mostly anything), films (again mostly anything but especially gross out horrors and Tarantino films) Wrestling, gaming (especially Tomb Raider and Little Big Planet) and retro cartoons. I'm a History Student currently in my final year and writing my dissertation on Batman, which is how I found Dr Brooker and then of course Cat. As You can tell from the stuff I like I'm not the typical 29 year old female. And while I'm hellishly (is that even a word?) proud of being unique, it's something that my friends sometimes struggle with. So hopefully you lovely people can tolerate my ramblings, and my friends can get a break from it

Hello Tinks!
That's exactly how I found Will, too. What's your dissertation angle?
Which retro cartoons?

I'm definitely one for ramblings, so I'm sure you'll fit in fine around here I'm curious about how you're fitting Batman into your History dissertation. I'd love to hear more about it!

Well, I'm looking at why Batman's actions as a vigilante are acceptable to the viewer/reader, where as other characters, who have similar motivations (for the greater good), are not so favorable. Is it because Batman doesn't kill where others do. I'm hoping to factor in something in his relationship with Joker too. The idea came from a module I did in my second year called American Crime Warfare and Violence where we looked at different 'causes' of violence in the states. I'm currently working my way through the original Thundercats, but I also love Wacky Races, Top Cat, Gummi Bears and the Get Along Gang to name a few

I got a LOT of really useful info from Will's Hunting The Dark KNight on why Batman doesn't just kill the Joker etc, and I'd love to read your dissertation - if you want a proofreader as well, send it over, I'd be happy to have a look for you.
I deeply love the 90's Batman cartoons, as well as The X-Men cartoons of that era. I've been watching Peanuts, The Clangers, vintage Looney Tunes and Pink Panther whilst doing admin for MSCSI the last few weeks. Rewatched She-Ra and He-Man recently too; found He-Man hadn't aged as well as I'd hoped, but that She-Ra had gained hilarious subtext now that I was older

Thank You! As great as my supervisor is I've been feeling a little adrift. At the moment it's a hand written jumble of paragraphs over half a notebook (!!) Once I get it typed up I shall send some your way I LOVED She-Ra when I was younger, I shall have to go back and re watch her soon

I would love to rewatch He-Man and She-Ra again!
Your focus sounds fascinating! I'd love to read it when it's finished. Hunting The Dark Knight is a definite must-read too, which I'm sure you know.

Hi Lea! B:TAS is amazing, on rewatch, I was dedicated it to as a kid. (imho, it's really only recently that stuff's started getting as good as the mid-90s again in terms of cartoons dedicated to 'kids'. Avatar and the Thundercats reboot and Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated, oh yes.)

I've seen and enjoyed a few episodes of the new Scooby Doo ( I have a niece and nephew so get to see MANY cartoons) but not the new Thundercats so much.
While I think it's great that a lot of the children's stuff has a little education in it now I think it'd be nice if there were more programmes like the ones that we grew up watching

Tinks, my supervisor was utterly clueless about what I wanted to do, and I got marked down because of it, so don' t worry - just make sure that YOU are happy with what you've written.
Beth, do it! She-Ra, anyway. Her poor little ginger sidekick that just wants to protect her from the bad guys, and she keeps sending him to fetch the laundry, it's brilliant.
Rhi, I think B:TAS is iconic and timeless, but I'm probably biased. I watch it every weekend as my Saturday morning cartoons with breakfast, because GODDAMMIT I want my life to be drawn by Bill Watterson, no matter my age or gender
Tinks, I think we were very lucky [I'm 28] to have grown up in a ground-breaking era for kid's cartoons; Ren and Stimpy, Rocco's Modern Life, Batman and The X Men. Captain Planet we'll skip over...

Thundercats- ho! is how I find my friends across large stores :-) I knew these were my kinds of people!
She-Ra is a favorite, I remember watching that and He-Man on a near constant loop.

Thank you for that, I'll be honest I've been having a bit of a panic about the marking but I want to be true to my idea so it's nice to have a little reassurance Tinks, I think we were very lucky [I'm 28] to have grown up in a ground-breaking era for kid's cartoons; Ren and Stimpy, Rocco's Modern Life, Batman and The X Men. Captain Planet we'll skip over... I think Captain Planet is why I dislike educational cartoons now! Loved Rocco, I'd like to get that on dvd to rewatch too!

Hello Lea, It's lovely to meet you! How wonderful that you like retro cartoons! And you mentioned the Get Along Gang. I adored it, I even joined the fan club when I was little! Have you watched them recently? i can only vaguely remember them. She-ra I also loved, and I had a She-ra doll, which i was very proud of. Do you remember Rude Dog and the Dweebs? That was my absolute favourite!
