I get the feeling eventually I'm going to have to rewatch O Brother, Where Art Thou? I never 'got' it when my dad first rented it, and have avoided it ever since because of the singing :/ Lots of people tell me I'm missing out on a good film.
Drive is another that I have enjoyed recently, and not just for Gosling!

Drive is really great--one of the better films I've seen recently.
As for my other lists, soon! It's too late for coherent thought for me, unfortunately.

I agree with every film listed so far.
Tinks, it's only after seeing Community in the past few years that I watched The Breakfast Club because of how much it has influenced the show, and I loved it and its great Ferris Bueller-esque stylings of chaotic fun.
I feel the same about the constantly changing top 5-ness, but here's an attempt: 1. Pulp Fiction 2. Scott Pilgrim vs The World 3. Trainspotting 4. The Matrix 5. No Country for Old Men

Aw, really hard to pick only 5. Hum, I'd say:
- Jurassic Park - Willow - Hook - Jumanji - Good Will Hunting
Surprisingly, most of my favorites are from my childhood °o°

My memory is too bad for an all-inclusive top 5, so here are 5 movies I can a) think of at the moment and b) really, really like!
- The Royal Tenenbaums - Lost In Translation - Death to Smoochy - Kill Bill v.1 - Spirited Away

Tinks, O Brother is definitely worth a revisit. I think it's one of Clooney's strongest performances.
Katshimmy, Princess Bride all the way, I LOVE that film
Seb, I love the lucky penny speech in No Country
Suze, I forgot how much I like Death to Smoochy! I get really mad with Norton, and it's because he's so good when he wants to be, in films like this, and then he just makes dross and it's a shame

Seb, if I picked my favourites from childhood, my list would be:
Teen Witch [ridiculous film, but I adored it] Jungle Book/Aristocats The Producers would still be on the list Edward Scissorhands Stand By Me
I think the films we love as kids always stay favourites, no matter whether we admit to them or not..
Sophie, have you seen Dead Man and Ed Wood?
Lucy, I've never seen Hannah and her Sisters, what's it about?

You know it's a good sign when you read other people's lists and think "Oooh, I should have said that, I love that one!"
Lucy- particularly Nightmare on Elm Street I just wrote an article on how Freddy Krueger, in contrasts to other horror movie villains is actually a modern day incarnation of the bogeyman! Was a great excuse to watch the films over and over!

Sophie, they're my favourite Johnny Depp/ Tim Burton films. I got very angry with the pair of them recently (angry like a rabid fanboy), but those two films I still adore. Dead Man is like watching Johnny Depp dream about being Johnny Depp. Very languid and slow-moving, and quietly odd.
Ed Wood is basically a love letter biopic, but the strongest film the two of them made together in my opinion, in that none of what it beautiful about the film gets caught up in looking like it's a Tim Burton film with Johnny Depp in it, if that makes any sense. They're just both on top form, and showing us why we should celebrate oddballs and cinematic lunatics.
