I enjoy playing around with my camera and found a load of photos on my laptop the other day I thought I'd post up here. The first few were taken at Pontsticill near Merthyr, a couple of years ago. There are quite a few waterfalls up there and it's really nice for walking. The next ones were taken at the old lunatic asylum in Talgarth, near Brecon, around the same time as the photos above. It is a very, very creepy place! Me and my sister were there for a few hours, wandering around and taking photos, before we got too freaked out to stay there much longer. There are loads of Flickr sets dedicated to it, and plenty of photos in Google image search too. The last few are photos I took coming back home over the Brecon Beacons a few weeks ago, and edited in the Pixlr-o-matic app on my phone. The waterfalls are amazing when they freeze like that.

Wow these are really cool. The one of the chair in the Asylum is really creepy. It looks like something out of last nights Doctor Who!. Was it quite creepy to visit? (Were there any ghosts/time travellers there like in Doctor Who? ) The ones of the waterfalls are really aweome as well. The views look breathtaking. I really like the frozen waterfall one, I like how its's blurred around the edges. It makes it seem like the picture is about to freeze over as well. It looks very cold though, so you must have had to brave some pretty cold conditions to take those photos! Frozen waterfalls are such a paradox. You get used to seeing water flowing so often that it seems odd to see it frozen like that. It's luck it stuck it this liminal state between being a liquid and a solid. It still looks like it's flowing even though it's staying really still. So awesome. You really have an eye for photography!

Thank you! My sister's the better photographer though. That chair is very creepy! And it was like that when we found it (you can't tell from the photo but it's in this tiny little cell, all on its own). It was actually last night's episode that reminded me to post the pictures here It was incredibly creepy to visit. First of all it's in the middle of nowhere so when we pulled up and got out of the car we were met by a host of crows rising up out of the trees and flapping around the chapel steeple. And the asylum itself is all fenced off, so you kinda have to sneak in. The rooms are dark and dank, and there's mould everywhere. You can smell the damp in the air, and you don't want to touch anything. But there's so much left there. We saw pictures drawn by some of the residents, crockery, furniture, bedding... There's a piano rotting in there somewhere, though we didn't venture that far in! We were there for a while, keeping a look-out in case there were any security guards, but it did feel like we were being watched a lot too. We heard noises but when we looked there was no one there. Things like that. It all got to a head when we both heard a door slamming and footsteps coming towards us, but there was no one there. We scarpered after that! If you ever get a chance to see the Brecon Beacons you should. It is pretty amazing scenery, especially in the winter. It was freezing though!
